Dan Ayling is a multi-disciplinary artist working across the mediums of music, dance and drama. His work explores space and how this affects both performer and spectator. For TÖNE Festival, he collaborates with cellists Rohan de Saram, Oliver Coates and Lucy Railton. Together they will present three solo pieces and a new trio in different locations across the Chatham Historic Docks.

 

About Dan Ayling

Dan Ayling trained at Birkbeck & Guildhall and is an Associate Artist of Cryptic in Glasgow. His directing credits include: Vast White Stillness (Swiss Church); Written on Skin (DNO, Théâtre du Capitole, Wiener Festwochen, Bayersiche Staatsoper, Opéra Comique); CITY (Norwich & Norfolk Festival); Remember Me (Cryptic); Clemency (EIF/SO); FLOW; Fewer Emergencies; City of Lost Angels (The Print Room); Again the Room Was Plunged Into Silence (Barbican); Bridge of Dreams and Cricket Remixed (Almeida); Can’t Stand Up For Falling Down (Arcola); The Kiss (Hampstead); Christie in Love (Lion & Unicorn); Shoot/Get Treasure/Repeat and Eschara (UK tour/Union Theatre).

His assisting credits include: Written on Skin (Aix/ROH); Clemency (ROH2); Heart of Darkness (ROH2/Opera East); One Evening (QEH/Lincoln Center). He has also worked extensively with Almeida Opera.

Future engagements include directing Struileag at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in July and working as Assistant Director to Phelim McDermot on Cosi fan tutte at ENO in April/May.
